Deep Research

I. Function Overview: When to Use Deep Research?

Deep Research is a built-in multi-source research mode in Kro. You don't need to install or operate it separately. Just state your question as if in a conversation, and Kro will help you break down the question, search multiple sources, organize the information, and generate a structured report with reference sources.

Suitable Scenarios:

  • Comparative Analysis: "Compare Cursor and Windsurf, which one is more suitable for professional developers?"
  • Industry trend research: "The competitive landscape of new energy vehicle manufacturers in 2025"
  • Technology solution selection: "Which framework should I use to build the internal knowledge base?"
  • Product or Company in-depth analysis: "Study the transformation path of Figma from a design tool to a product platform"

Less suitable situations:

  • Simple fact inquiries (such as "What is a decorator?")
  • Code debugging or bug investigation
  • Real-time breaking news
  • A few web pages can answer clear questions.

You can simply judge: If your question requires looking at a lot of materials, comparing multiple objects, and organizing multiple dimensions, then it is suitable for in-depth research; if a sentence or a web page can answer it, then there is no need to use it.

II. Core process: Just 3 steps, get the in-depth report

Step 1: State your research requirements

In the chat box, tell Kro what you want to research in natural language. There is no need for a special format, just like chatting with a friend. For example:

Kro will recognize this as a request for in-depth research, and after you click "Allow" to confirm, it will automatically enter the research process.

Step 2: Confirm the research plan

Kro will break your big question into several research dimensions and show them to you for confirmation. For example, if you ask "The development trend of AI programming assistants", Kro will first confirm with you the research scope and focus dimensions. This is to ensure the accuracy and comprehensiveness of the investigation, which meets your research requirements.

Just take a look at the plan and make sure the direction is correct. If you feel that some angles are missing, you can submit your suggestions in the next round of dialog box - for example, "Add an angle from a domestic product perspective". Kro will adjust and then proceed.

Step 3: Wait for the research, read the report

After confirming the plan, Kro will automatically complete the search and extraction. You don't need to do anything.

The research usually takes a lot of time because Kro will automatically conduct the search and reflection to ensure that the information provided to you is accurate, objective, and rigorous.

In about 15 minutes, a structured report will be ready. Usually, the core findings summary will be explained in the dialog box. At the same time, Kro will automatically generate a markdown format file. The file will contain detailed analysis of each dimension, key conclusions, suggestions, references, etc., and each important conclusion will be accompanied by a source link. You can check the source at any time.

III. Utilizing Three Techniques for Effective In-depth Research

Technique 1: The more specific the question, the more valuable the report

The quality of in-depth research largely depends on how focused your questions are.

A good question looks like this:

"Research the implementation cases of AI in K12 mathematics education, with a focus on the adaptive learning direction."

A bad question looks like this:

"The impact of AI on education"

The difference lies in: the former has a more specific field and a clearer focus, and can be broken down into multiple research dimensions.

The more specific it is, the more in-depth analysis Kro can provide for you; the broader it is, the easier the report becomes a general overview.

If you're unsure, you can first give a general direction, and Kro will help you refine the question.

Technique 2: You can adjust the direction at any time during the research

When Kro presents the research plan, in addition to choosing the "Yes" or "No" options given by the system, you can also:

  • Add dimensions: "Add an aspect from the perspective of an open-source product"
  • Reduce dimensions: "There's no need to study the implementation aspects of the enterprise. I'll only focus on the technological trends."
  • Adjustment scope: "Just focus on the situation in the Chinese market."
  • Change the focus: "Compare Cursor and Copilot, and briefly mention other products. Proceed with the search after the adjustment."

Kro will adjust the research plan in real time based on your feedback and then start the search. After the research begins, if you come up with new perspectives, you can also add them later, for example, "The previous report was good, but could you also provide an additional analysis on the pricing strategy?" Kro will add the research and update the report.

Technique 3: Reports can not only be read but also reprocessed

Just getting the report is just the beginning. You can use the report as reference material and continue to have Kro help you with various transformations. For example:

  • Transform into PPT: "Turn this report into a 10-page PPT, suitable for sharing within the team."
  • Transform into a mind map: "Create a mind map based on the report, organizing it according to the market landscape / technological trends / the structure of enterprise implementation."
  • Extract key data table: "Organize the comparative information in the report into a table" "Translate this report into English."
  • Summarized in one page: "Provide me with a 300-word summary version, retaining only the most essential conclusions."
